The Great Joe Bivins is wrong. Crossing your eyes will not help, it actually works the opposite way, by relaxing the eyes and looking farther away. Crossing your eyes focuses closer. Anyways, I can get them to appear in less than a second.
Actually, B, you’re wrong. Crossing your eyes does work; the image is just inverted along the Z-axis. I’ve got friends that can only see them with eyes crossed because they can’t relax well enough. With a particularly stubborn image (usually just printed too small), I’ll cross my eyes to see it.

I got a book of those from the Library, but when I tried to see the 3D pictures I just got a massive headache…

Wallaby: I actually have Amblyopia, so the magic eye art never works for me, either.
Reynard: massive headache, eh? Maybe all those books are just put out by Excedrin/Tylenol to boost sales.

I just cross my eyes and they lock into place when the image pops up. Then if I do it too much my eyes start to cross themselves randomly.

I do say a random button is needed!

I’m a second reader with Amblyopia… and I groaned aloud when I saw today’s drawing.
Funny!

Eli: A random button may be beyond my feeble html skillz, but I shall try to implement one.
