Trufax.
Though when I worked at K-mart in 2000-2004, we’d start playing Christmas carols and put up Christmas stuff as soon as we took down Back-To-School in September.
My mom — who was born in the first years of the Depression — tells me that, when she was growing up, stores generally waited until the second week December to put up the Christmas decorations. Heck, I can remember when they waited until *after* Thanksgiving to put them up. (Late ’60s-early ’70s.) Commercialism über alles, I suppose…
X-mas! I remember when I used to do that! Now I just buy stuff I know someone will appreciate any time of the year when I come across it and give it to them then. Screw being peer-pressured into buying useless landfill just because I /have/ to get everyone /something/ for an arbitrary day of the year.
Love your comics! This one is great!
…although, technically the axes should be switched, since generally the independent variable (the state of the economy) would go on the x-axis, and whatever it’s affecting (the dependent variable) on the y-axis. Sorry, I’m a science dork
Also just want to say, I am seriously addicted to your comics. I was a big far side lover, and now I have Basketcase! Keep it up!
